Einstein once said: “If bees ever die out, mankind will have only four years left to live.” In the past five years, billions of honeybees simply vanished for reasons still obscure – however more than one third of our food production depends on pollination by honeybees. Dazzlingly artful, this award-winning film is no ordinary nature documentary. Without bees, we will die. But, between pesticides, antibiotics and monoculture, the extinction of bees becomes increasingly likely – something that would be a catastrophe for global food security. Visually captivating, with mesmerising macro cinematography of the bees themselves. High speed cameras burrow, hover and zip around with a vividness that is nothing short of entrancing.
