Africa: The Courageous Continent
The Director of Centre for Creative Arts, David wa Maahlamela will moderate a session entitled ‘Africa: The Courageous Continent’ at the 67º Internationale Filmfestspiele Berlin at 16h00, today on 14 February 2017 at the Berlinale Africa Hub (near the Martin-Gropius-Bau). In this discussion, ten cinematic prodigies will deliberate on the changing African Cinema through visionary storytelling and new distribution. These 2017 Berlinale Talents are Marie Laurentine Bayala (Filmmaker, Burkina Faso), Adefoyeke Ajao (Journalist, Nigeria), Rodkangmwa Matta (Writer, Filmmaker, Nigeria), Daniel Oriahi (Director, Nigeria), Okechukwu Ukeje (Actor, Nigeria), Mark Middlewick (Filmmaker, South Africa), Khanyo Mjamba (Writer, South Africa), Zamo Mkhwanazi (Writer, Director, South Africa), Samantha Nell (Writer, Director, Producer, South Africa), Caitlin Pansegrouw (Filmmaker, South Africa). David wa Maahlamela and Menzi Mhlongo (Durban Talents coordinator) are representing the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Durban International Film Festival which will be held from 13 – 23 July 2017.
